We are delighted to announce that from today performers wishing to join Spotlight will no longer be required to select a gender option when making an application.
Once a profile is up and running we will ask you to provide more information, including gender, to ensure casting directors can easily find you. When providing information about gender you can choose from the following options: custom, non-binary, transgender female, transgender male, female, and male. You can read more about gender options on Spotlight here.
We are pleased to finally be able to take this step, and hope this ensures that trans, non-binary, and gender diverse performers know we actively welcome them and our platform holds space for them.
We know that the education and language surrounding trans identity has the potential to shift and change – Spotlight endeavours to listen to the transgender community in order to continue to accurately represent them as best we can.
