The National Theatre and Watermill Theatre win Theatre of the Year, while Chickenshed is recognised with the judges’ brand new award.

The winners of the Stage Awards 2024 have now been revealed at a ceremony at Theatre Royal Drury Lane on 29 January 2024. Spotlight is proud to support the awards, which recognise and celebrate achievements in British theatre – including the West End, regional and fringe theatre in the UK, and more – and are in association with Tysers Live.

This year, the judges couldn’t decide on the recipient for the coveted Theatre of the Year award, so it was shared by two venues – the National Theatre and Watermill Theatre. Chickenshed won the newly-created Judges’ Award in recognition of their 50 years of excellence, and the Chichester Festival Theatre’s Theatre Manager Janet Bakose was the Unsung Hero winner for her 45 years of work at the venue.
